Friday night November 12, 2010 the Fight To Win fight promotion held Colorado’s biggest professional MMA show in history.  The National Western Stockshow Complex hosted the event with twelve bouts being contested on the card.

Main event: Nick Buschman vs. Tyrone Glover in a 155 lb. Super-fight.

Glover got an early takedown and Buschman immediately got to his feet but Glover took him to the ground again.  Buschman scrambled to his feet and the fighters exchanged strikes.  Glover again went in for a takedown and Buschman defended with head control and strikes initially, but Glover got a slam, took mount and worked hard GNP.  Buschman went to his knees to try for an escape but Glover secured back control.  Buschman scrambled non-stop, however, Glover was able set up an armbar off of back control for the win at 4:20 of round one.

Co-Main event: Robert Martinez vs. Ramico Blackmon in a 170 lb. title fight.

The fighters spent nearly two minutes with neither willing to engage.  Finally Blackmon pressed forward, got the clinch and scored a takedown.  Martinez worked to standing and Blackmon scored with a huge lateral drop.  Martinez again got to standing, Blackmon again got a takedown and once more Martinez got to his feet.  The fighters exchanged strikes in the clinch to end the round.  To start round two both fighters scored head punches early then Blackmon got a takedown off of standing back control.  Martinez fired a series of elbows to the head of Blackmon off of his back while Blackmon worked GNP from the top.  Martinez worked back to standing but Blackmon got an ankle pick to set up back control.  Martinez again worked to his feet and again Blackmon scored with a lateral drop.  The fighters again came to their feet and both landed solid strikes while clinched against the cage before Blackmon got one more takedown to end the round.  Round three started with a head punch exchange then again there ensued a series of Blackmon getting takedowns and Martinez working back to standing.  The referee separated the fighters after a prolonged clinch and Blackmon immediately got a takedown.  The referee stood the fighters when the pace slowed and Blackmon spent the rest of the fight looking for a takedown which Martinez defended.  The judges’ scorecards were read and the Fight To Win 170 lb. title winner by unanimous decision was Ramico Blackmon.

Angelo Duarte vs. Joe Wilk in a 145 lb. title fight.

Duarte immediately shot for a takedown and Wilk fell back and transitioned from a guillotine to an omoplata to a triangle to get the submission win and take home the Fight To Win 145 lb. professional title at :48 of round one.

Matt Simms vs. Jeremy Malaterre in a 155 lb. fight.

After a solid striking exchange Simms got a takedown and worked from top north/south.  Malaterre drove forward then stood.  Simms shot for a takedown but Malaterre ended on top.  Simms showed an active guard while Malaterre scored with GNP.   Simms worked to his knees and Malaterre countered by threatening between anaconda and D’arce chokes.  Simms got his back against the cage and sat up to momentarily threaten with a guillotine choke but Malaterre again set in an anaconda choke and this time he got it closed off for the win at 4:20 of round one.

Vinnie Pallone vs. Abe Wagner in a 265 lb. fight.

Pallone trapped a kick to set up a takedown.  From inside the guard of Wagner Pallone worked GNP while Wagner countered with submission attempts.  The referee stood the fighters when the action slowed and Wagner landed a left hook that dropped Pallone.  Wagner followed with GNP to get the TKO win at 2:34 of round one.

Steve Simmons vs. Drew Dober in a 170 lb. fight.

Both fighters put their stellar striking skills on display for almost all of round one; both at range and while clinched.  Near the end of the round Dober got an outside leg trip takedown and the round ended with the fighters working for position on the mat.  Round two had both fighters again striking with accuracy, and this time each shot had more power behind it.  Dober took half mount when it went to the mat and used his GNP to set up a transition to side control for continued GNP to end the round.  Round three had Dober pressing forward early and using combinations to set up the clinch and takedown.  Dober passed guard into side control and threw strikes until Simmons verbally submitted.  Dober got the TKO by verbal submission tapout (due to loss of vision) at 1:37 of round three.

Chris Williamson vs. Matt Cox in a 170 lb. fight.

Cox opened with a hard leg kick and Williamson answered with a bodylock slam.  The fighters scrambled for position and Williamson briefly had back control.  From his knees Cox rolled through and set up the fight ending triangle choke with the tapout coming at 1:20 of round one.

Jason Lee vs. Ed Banks in a 185 lb. fight.

Off of a jumping kick Banks initiated the clinch to set up a takedown.  Lee rolled through when it hit the mat and immediately went to full mount.  From the top Lee set in a head and arm triangle choke to get the submission victory at 1:05 of round one.

Tim Brower vs. Xavier Saccamano in a 205 lb. fight.

Off of a clinch Saccamano went for a takedown but Brower controlled the fall and landed in full mount.  Saccamano got a reversal and worked GNP after taking full mount.  Brower turned face down to escape the strikes and Saccamano set up and closed off a RNC to get the win at 2:42 of round one.

Josh Ford vs. Travis Hollis in a 155 lb. fight.

Hollis landed first with leg kicks then scrambled to his feet off of a Ford takedown.  Ford again got a takedown, and then he fell back to secure a heel hook submission with the tapout coming at 1:11 of round one.

Alfredo Corona vs. Matt Vigil in a 143 lb. fight.

Corona opened with a solid leg kick then jumped to a standing guillotine choke when Vigil dropped levels for a takedown.  Corona held the choke and got it closed off for the submission victory at :19 of round one.

Nate Johnson vs. Ryan Walden in a 155 lb. fight.

Walden scored first with a head kick then he got a takedown off of an attempted standing guillotine choke by Johnson.  On the mat Walden secured back control to work GNP but Johnson turned in and worked strikes of his own.  After several scrambles each fighter spent time in  north/south position to land strikes.  Walden momentarily had mount, then he took back control to work an RNC to end round one.  Round two saw both fighters landing strikes before Johnson got a takedown to work between striking and improving position.  Walden scrambled to standing and Johnson jumped guard for a guillotine.  The fighters fell to the ground and on the mat Walden escaped the choke and worked GNP before setting in a rolling guillotine choke to get the submission victory at 4:27 of round two.
